Common Purse was born out of the idea that philanthropy is in need of an overhaul. Much good work needs to be done in this world, but charities have become massive, impersonal and unwieldy affairs. Many of us have grown cynical over the years watching our donations be misspent or even disappear into black holes of administration fees, huge salaries and failure to oversee the final outcomes.

We want to support the needs of small and nimble do-gooders; people and projects that are real and who will get the job done…with integrity, insight and innovative approaches.

Our goal is to help find, sponsor and connect worthy projects with great people who are creative, motivated and intelligent in their giving. We believe that small, personal and more transparent enterprises can often better serve the needs of their communities.

We believe that uncommon ideas and fresh ways of doing good will result in less waste of time and resources, more transparency and even more fun. If you're tired of the same old drill, come join us on a journey of discovery... Dare to give wisely. Dare to give freely. Discover your inner philanthropist!

Think you've got a better idea? Nurture your dream here... Pursue your passion with the 'Purse'!

Indiana Project Lifesaver

Madison County, Indiana

September 2010

Project Lifesaver is a program designed to track and locate lost individuals.

This program is designed specifically for families living with Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, Down Syndrome, Autism, and related disorders, where people may wander from the safety of their homes.

How Does Project Lifesaver Work?

Project Lifesaver provides individuals with a personalized radio transmitter bracelet.

When an individual is reported as missing, trained law enforcement can locate the audible transmitter signal using both air and ground tracking receivers. This proven radio technology has cut the average search time from 3 days to less than 30 minutes. Families are quickly notified and reunited.

The Project Organizers

The project organizers started their work in July 2010. They have printed brochures, held fundraisers and educated the public about the need for helping those at risk in Madison County.

They are hoping to start training the local police force in late November. At that stage they will be fully operational.

Money is still needed for those that cannot afford the bracelets and for equipment for the other police departments in Madison County.

The cost of each bracelet including the upkeep for one year is just $300.

For less than $1 a day, a loved one can be protected. The cost of equipment for the police station is $7500.00.
